I went on quite the rabbit hole after this one - it's wild to see how Polyergus will enslave Formica... but then some species of Formica enslave the others too! So it's almost like certain Formica (the workers who hatch from colony scented brood) become a sort of "currency of utility" among these ant colonies.

Is the Formica–Polyergus model a foreshadowing of a post-AI society, where the vast majority of humans are cognitively outmatched and must trade AI-generated labor tokens to survive — like slave-raised ants?
